I’ve been fortunate enough to have opportunities to work with a wide range of clients and to travel to many countries in the process.
When I first began studying professional photography, the idea of managing all the technical details while standing in front of a complete stranger was terrifying.
That’s not to say I don’t still experience some natural anxiety when photographing people, but my determination to gain experience in as many genres as possible worked well with my adrenaline-seeking nature and my need to try new things. I satisfied both by connecting with all kinds of people and by embracing new situations, experimenting with whatever techniques interested me at the time.
An image feels successful to me when composition, color, expression, energy, and story all come together to create a clean photograph that can be read like a page from a book. If you can sense a story without any context, then I feel I’ve done my job.
